Home Video Announcement, Artwork For Upcoming “Green Lantern: First Flight” Release

Supporting earlier reports, Warner Home Video has officially announced that Green Lantern: First Flight will be the next release under the direct-to-video DC Universe Animated Original Movie banner. Further details are available in the press release below.

Emmy Nominees Christopher Meloni & Victor Garber Top Stellar Voice Cast for
Fifth DC Universe Animated Original Movie

The fabric of intergalactic justice is threatened until Hal Jordan arrives for his initial mission in the animated Green Lantern: First Flight, the fifth entry in the popular DVD series of DC Universe Animated Original PG-13 Movies. A co-production of Warner Premiere, DC Comics and Warner Bros. Animation, the illuminated heros first-ever full-length animated film is set for release by Warner Home Video on July 28, 2009. Green Lantern: First Flight will be available as a special edition 2-disc version on DVD and Blu-Ray Hi-Def for $29.98 (SRP) and $34.99 (SRP), respectively, as well as single disc DVD for $19.98 (SRP). Order due date for all versions is June 23, 2009.

Acclaimed actor Christopher Meloni (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit) fills the lead voice of Hal Jordan aka Green Lantern. Meloni is joined by fellow Emmy Award nominee Victor Garber (Milk, Titanic) as the villainous Sinestro, Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica) as the voice of Boodikka, and Michael Madsen (Reservoir Dogs) as Kilowog.

Produced by animation legend Bruce Timm, Green Lantern: First Flight is helmed by heralded director Lauren Montgomery (Wonder Woman, Superman Doomsday) and scripted by four-time Emmy Award-winning writer Alan Burnett (The Batman).

Green Lantern: First Flight finds Hal Jordan recruited to join the Green Lantern Corps and placed under the supervision of respected senior Lantern Sinestro. The earthling soon discovers his mentor is actually the central figure in a secret conspiracy that threatens the philosophies, traditions and hierarchy of the entire Green Lantern Corps. Hal must quickly hone his newfound powers and combat the treasonous Lanterns within the ranks to maintain order in the universe.

When parallel worlds collide, Batman swaps places with Owlman–his criminal counterpart in an alternate universe–to stop the Crime Syndicate from taking over their world. Crime fighters in one world must battle their evil counterparts in a crime spree melee. Meanwhile back on Earth, Owlman has been perpetrating crimes disguised as Batman and assembled all the villains to join him. When Batman returns, he finds himself on the wrong side of the law and hunted by Green Lantern, Aquaman, Blue Beetle, Red Tornado and Plastic Man. Its a strange twist of fate that leaves Batman with only one option – to team up with Joker and take Owlman and the Crime Syndicate down!

Update On Score Soundtrack Release For Upcoming “Wonder Woman” Animated Feature

Warner Bros. Animation has confirmed for The World’s Finest that New Line Records will be releasing the soundtrack to the upcoming direct-to-video Wonder Woman animated feature. The New Line Records release is slated to arrive before the end of the third quarter 2009, though that date is subject to change. The format for the release is currently planned as a New Line Records legal download with La-La Land Records releasing the same content on compact disc. San Francisco Screening Precedes March 3, 2009 Release of All-New DVD


Wonder Woman, the highly-anticipated fourth entry in the DC Universe animated original movie series, will receive a West Coast big screen premiere at WonderCon on February 27, 2009 in the Moscone Center in San Francisco.

The 6:00 p.m. screening will be followed by a panel discussion featuring filmmakers and voice cast, including animation legend Bruce Timm and Academy Award nominee Virginia Madsen. Filmmakers will also screen the world premiere of the first footage of Green Lantern: First Flight, an upcoming DC Universe animated original movie.

Presented by Warner Premiere, Warner Bros. Animation and DC Comics, the all-new Wonder Woman animated original movie will be distributed by Warner Home Video on March 3, 2009. Wonder Woman will be available as a Single Disc DVD, 2-Disc Special Edition DVD and Blu-ray Disc. The animated original movie will also be available OnDemand and Pay-Per-View, as well as available for download day and date, March 3, 2009.

Madsen, making her first-ever Con appearance, provides the regal voice of Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons and mother to Diana/Wonder Woman. The actress, who received an Oscar nod for her performance in the 2003 hit film Sideways, is joined in the stellar voice cast by Keri Russell (Waitress, Felicity), Nathan Fillion (Firefly/Serenity & the upcoming ABC series Castle), Alfred Molina (Spider-Man 2), Rosario Dawson (Sin City), Oliver Platt (The West Wing) and David McCallum (NCIS).

Wonder Woman is an origin story produced by multiple Emmy Award winning animation legend Bruce Timm, directed by Lauren Montgomery (Superman Doomsday) and written by Michael Jelenic (Batman: Brave & the Bold). All three will participate in the post-screening panel and Saturdays autograph session. DC Comics Senior Vice President of Creative Affairs Gregory Noveck will moderate the post-screening panel.

An autograph session for all panelists is being scheduled for Saturday, February 28.

Green Lantern: First Flight is directed by Lauren Montgomery and features Christopher Meloni as Hal Jordan/Green Lantern, Victor Garber as Sinestro, Michael Madsen as Kilowog, and Tricia Helfer as Boodikka.
