Thats stupid right after issue 19 they just jump in the time gap thats.
Dump theres alot of stuff they didnt show lime how rocket joined to the team and stuff that happened bettween the episode and slot more

From what I gathered here, it seems this was a decision from higher up to be consistent with the branding, but that stories from both seasons and during the gap will be told. Eventually.
