Vietti, Weisman Comment On “Young Justice: Music from the DC Comics Animated Television Series”
The World’s Finest caught up with Young Justice Producers Greg Weisman and Brandon Vietti for their thoughts on the upcoming Young Justice: Music from the DC Comics Animated Television Series soundtrack release from La-La Land Records. The soundtrack, collecting an assortment of music from the two-season run of the acclaimed Young Justice animated series, will be available both directly from La-La Land Records and from other major outlets starting Tuesday, July 16th, 2013, in both compact disc and digital download formats. Music collaborators Dynamic Music Partners provided the score for Young Justice. Continue below for more from Weisman and Vietti.
“Working with Dynamic Music Partners (Lolita Ritmanis, Kristopher Carter & Michael McCuistion) was truly a joy,” said Weisman. “No matter what challenge we handed to them – anything from ‘write the theme song to a bad seventies sitcom’ to ‘break our heart when the robot dies’ they rose to – often saving our butts in the process.”
“Audio is half the experience when watching film or television – half!” added Vietti. “So it was important to us to find a music direction that would not only enhance the stories and visuals of Young Justice but also give our series a unique vibe.”
Vietti said that he and Weisman wanted to avoid the traditional orchestral superhero score that has become a staple of many superhero soundtracks, but instead wanted edgy, electronic sounds and atmospheres. He and Weisman explained their ideas to Dynamic Music Partners.
“They took our ideas, expanded on them and surprised us again and again with amazing new sounds that we had never heard them create before,” Vietti exclaimed. “They gave Young Justice a signature sound that exceeded our expectations.”
Stay tuned for a full-length interview with Dynamic Music Partners later this week.
Greg Weisman is currently working as a Producer, alongside Dave Filoni and Simon Kinberg, on the new Star Wars Rebels animated series, due out in the Fall of 2014. Additionally, he is currently writing his second novel, with his first – Rain of the Ghosts – due for release in December of 2013.
Brandon Vietti is currently producing and directing a new Scooby-Doo animated movie featuring characters from the WWE, which is set for release in 2014.
