Justice League Update: The Guild!
By Jim Harvey
12-27-2001

Bruce Timm recently told Toon Zone about plans for the upcoming episode "Legends", spotlighting the Justice Guild of America. Timm stated that while they couldn't use the real Justice Society of America, their take on the characters might be better:

"It's funny how things work out...at first, we were still kinda disappointed that we couldn't use the "real" JSA, but we've come to realize that the story actually works BETTER this way...the "GL", "Flash", and "Black Canary" doppelgangers are fairly close to the originals, but the "Wildcat" clone is almost a Batman/Wildcat hybrid, and the "Atom" character has quite a bit of classic Superman in him as well...so, in effect, we're not just spoofing/paying homage to the the JSA, but also to the Fox-era Silver Age JLA, too...sweet!"

Things were so tight that the voice actors didn't know the name of some of the JGA characters by the time voice recording began. Well - that has changed! A source from Cartoon Network was able to provide the names of the characters featured in the JGA, who may be predominantly featured in an ad campaign for the episode "Legends", which features these characters:

1) Tom Turbine (This character will be a combination of Superman & The Atom)
2) Black Siren (This character will resemble the Black Canary)
3) Catman (This character is the Wildcat/Batman combination)
4) Green Guardsman (This character is the expected Green Lantern - type)
5) Streak (This character will resemble the Flash)

Please note that Catman will not be the same Thomas Blake character from the comicbooks, or even from his appearance in the Batman episode "Cult of the Cat". This is a "new" character for the JGA.
