Interviews - Robert Goodman Talks To
The Zeta Project Fans
Toon Zone poster "Imajine", a hardcore ZeeRo Worshipper, posted
up a letter written by Robert Goodman in the forums today
concerning the show. The letter is presented below:
As usual, I have to start by saying I don't have any greater
insight into the network's plans than anyone. One, as a rule,
they avoid making any real, absolute decisions as long as they
can -- and two, even when they do decide things, they keep those
decisions close to the vest. So in other words, a show rarely
gets told that it's "cancelled." It just doesn't get new
episodes ordered. And to my knowledge, as of this point, no new
episodes of Zeta are being ordered. The bright side of this
system is that there's always hope. Since the network often
hasn't decided they've cancelled a show (even in their own
minds), they can suddenly order more at a moment's notice.
"Hologram Man" is the last episode we did in the existing
sequence. It was intended as a season finale, and in it a lot of
the questions about Doctor Selig are answered. ...And then some
new ones are raised. I do have the future of Zee, Ro, and their
respective quests mapped out -- and someday, I would love to
finish the story.
Two episodes remain unaired in the U.S.: "Ro's Reunion," which
as you know aired in Canada, and "The Wrong Morph." Even though
each had their proper place in the story sequence, and they'll
feel a little odd to see especially after "Hologram Man," I hope
they each see the airwaves someday. I'm fond of both of these
episodes, and the story feels incomplete without them. (Btw, an
error I've noticed on some episode guides: "Finders Keepers" was
an early title for "Resume Mission;" those are the same
episode.)
I also speak for Liz Holzman and everyone else on the show, when
I say how much we've appreciated the loyalty and feedback from
our fans. Knowing that it touched people is what makes it all
worthwhile.
All my best wishes,
Bob
