New “Batman And Friends,” “Superman And Friends” DVDs Slated For April 2014

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has recently announced two new budget-priced DVD collections featuring episodes of Batman: The Animated Series and Superman: The Animated Series. Both collections – Batman and Friends and Superman and Friends – feature four episodes, a selection of bonus content, and will retail for $9.97. Batman and Friends and Superman and Friends are both slated to hit shelves on April 1st, 2014. These two titles, which are repackages of previous DVD titles, are part of Warner Bros. Home Entertainment’s ongoing efforts to provide budget-priced DVD releases featuring some of the most popular characters from the acclaimed studio. The Hub Removes “Batman: The Animated Series,” Keeps “Superman: The Animated Series,” Returns “Batman Beyond”

The Hub network has announced a few changes to the channel’s daily schedule, including the removal of the classic Batman: The Animated Series from the weekday line-up. Starting Monday, December 2nd, 2013, the weekday 8:00am (ET) airings of Batman: The Animated Series will be replaced with repeats of Transformers Animated. The network has not confirmed at this time if this is a temporary or permanent removal of the series from the schedule. Batman: The Animated Series has been a part of the The Hub line-up since September 2011.

Additionally, Superman: The Animated Series will move to a new timeslot, now airing weekdays at 10:00am (ET). Batman Beyond is also returning to The Hub after a brief hiatus. The show will be paired with Superman: The Animated Series, airing weekdays at 9:30am (ET).

The network is expected to announce further possible schedule changes, with episode specific details, in the coming days.

The Hub Network, a multi-platform joint venture between Discovery Communications and Hasbro, Inc., features original programming as well as content from Discovery’s library of children’s educational programming; from Hasbro’s portfolio of entertainment and educational properties built during the past 90 years; and from leading third-party producers worldwide. The Hub lineup includes animated and live-action series, specials and game shows, with the network extending its content through a robust and engaging online presence. The Hub launched on Sunday, October 10th, 2010, reaching approximately 60 million U.S. households.

The animated short “Superman 75,” by Man of Steel director Zack Snyder and animation producer Bruce Timm, is now available wide for all online outlets. With Smallville’s triumphant 10-season run still fresh in our memories, and a certain Man of Steel soaring high in the cinema, Warner Archive think it’s worth a look at some lesser known super-shows. Join renowned writer/artist Jerry Ordway and Mike Carlin, Creative Director/Animation, DC Entertainment alongside the ever-informed, fan-centric Warner Archive Podcast hosts Matt Patterson and DW Ferranti and moderator Gary Miereanu as they take a look at the syndicated Adventures of Superboy (from  the producers of Superman: The Motion Picture and featured scripts from some of comicdom’s most noted scribes), Cathy Lee Crosby’s superspy version of Princess Diana, Hanna-Barbera’s notorious live-action primetime Superfriends: Legends of the Super Heroes and clips from some choice “super” pilots.

New York Comic-Con is the East Coast’s biggest popular culture convention, with show floors that play host to the latest in comics, graphic novels, anime, manga, video games, toys, movies and television. Panels and autograph sessions give fans a chance to interact with their favorite creators, and the screening rooms feature sneak peeks at films and television shows months before they hit either big or small screens.
